What happens if the nanny or babysitter quits?

If your employed nanny or babysitter wants to resign, ask for a written notice of termination for your records. When giving notice, the agreed or statutory notice periods must be observed.

If you gave your nanny or babysitter keys or other materials at the beginning of the job, have them returned to you at the end of the job.

Issue your nanny or babysitter with a certificate of employment. All information in the reference must be true, correct and complete. In any case, the reference must contain information about the duration and nature of the employment relationship.
