Regular employment
Yes, by law you are obliged to register your babysitter or nanny with the AHV – and thus with the important social insurances. This protects your babysitter or nanny from the negative consequences of disability, loss of income and unemployment in the event of an emergency.
We help you register your childminder free of charge with our employment assistant Fairboss.ch. Here we provide you with the appropriate form for your canton to download and the address to which you must send the completed form. Good to know: You have 30 days after employment to register.
We explain in detail which steps are necessary to hire and insure your childminder: How do I hire a babysitter or a nanny?
Self-employed babysitters and nannies
You do not have to register a self-employed babysitter or nanny.
